Sit In Stillness

Your transformation isn’t just about the physical. When you set your Intentions, you are laying the building blocks for the best version of yourself, and that’s more than just your body.  At Studio Akasa, we believe that real wellbeing is just as much about mental training as physical, and the first step to that wellbeing is meditation.

Are you already comfortable meditating for 20 minutes each day? Awesome! You do your thing.

If not, and especially if meditation is completely new to you, we highly recommend downloading a good meditation app. There are lots to choose from, so you’ve got time over the next few days to try out a few and decide which you’ll stick with.

Some of the widely-respected meditation apps we’ve used previously are:

  • 10% Happier – Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics. Our current favourite! The tagline says it all: A clear, simple approach to meditation with bestselling author Dan Harris and some of the most respected meditation teachers on the planet. Start with the ‘Basics’ course, and go from there.
  • Headspace. This application isn’t necessarily about promoting meditation, but instead focuses on mindfulness. Beginners may find this much easier to immerse themselves in, as the content of the app gives a great sense of progression, while using external points of reference to deepen your practice.
  • Simply Being. Basic, straightforward meditation guidance with an appealing design and a good progression framework.

Maybe an app isn’t your style? There are some great online meditation channels and websites. A quality website that we’ve frequented for years is DoYogaWithMe. You can find their meditation page here.

If you’ve found it difficult in the past to get into a solo meditation practice, or just want a more personalised approach, Studio Akasa’s own Tes Byrnes runs a weekly guided meditation class on Saturdays at 09:30. Tes is passionate about meditation, and has been guiding beginners and pros for most of her career. The class is free for members, or anyone attending the Saturday morning Vinyasa Flow, so we highly recommend incorporating it into your schedule!

We also want you to start your meditation practice as soon as possible in your transformation. That’s why our very first 90 minute MasterClass on Sunday 22nd April is dedicated to giving you the tools to create a lasting practice for all of your transformation. Moving Into Stillness will be our first MasterClass throughout the Transformation, and we hope you can all make it!
